When: Friday February 1, 2008 at 6PM and Saturday February 2, 2008 at 10AM
Preview: Begins at 4PM on Friday, and 8AM on Saturday.
Location of Auction: Little Falls VFW, 1210 3rd Avenue NE, Little Falls, MN. Note, the building entrance is on 13th Street NE.
Over 8,000 coins sold in 800 lots over two days – approximately 300 lots on Friday night and approximately 500 lots on Saturday. All the coins are from the Roger Joarnt Collection. Roger began collecting his first coins in Alaska in 1961, and has continued collecting to this time. We are honored to have been selected by Roger to sell his complete collection. Due to the volume of coins, we have had only the top end graded by ANACS. There are many quality coins in this collection including a large amount of cents. With the increasing value in precious metals, and rare coins this will be an excellent investment opportunity for you.
There is a photo gallery of the highlights at the bottom of this page. Be sure to scroll down and take a look at the photos!
Complete Inventory and Catalog in Sale Order
We have now cataloged the auction, and each day is now in selling order. You may view the selling order for each day by clicking on the corresponding link: Friday selling order or Saturday selling order.
Photos of Each Lot
We have posted photos of each lot, along with the complete catalog, at Proxibid.com. Each lot is displayed with a complete description and two photos. To view the catalog, click on the corresponding catalog link. We suggest you review that catalog in an effort to better understand the condition of each lot.
Online Bidding Registration
As with most of our specialty auctions, in an effort to accommodate all interested parties, we are offering live online bidding on each lot. The online bidding is provided by Proxibid. Please visit their site to register and view each day’s catalog. Please note, the catalogs will be posted on January 23, 2008. You may begin to register at your convenience, and you may begin to place bids on January 23, 2008.
Terms
Onsite we will accept cash, check, Visa or MasterCard as payment. Note, there is a 10% buyer’s premium in effect for this auction. If you are an online buyer, we will accept only Visa or MasterCard, and there is an 18% buyer’s premium for online purchases. Additional terms apply to those individuals who choose to bid online. Those additional online terms are found at Proxibid under the “info” button.
Absentee Bids/Phone Bidding
While we prefer any absentee bids or phone bids be handled by placing a pre-bid on Proxibid, we understand that this is not always possible. If you would like to place an absentee bid or phone bid on any item, you will need to make arrangements with our office no later than the close of business on January 30th. We will require a major credit card to handle your bid. The buyer’s premium for an absentee bid or phone bidding is 18%.
Grades of Coins
Approximately 90 of the coins have been recently graded by ANACS. These coins are slabbed and described with the grade. In addition, our numismatic staff has graded a large portion of the coins. The grades of our numismatic staff are not included in the catalog or description of each lot. However, on many lots you will notice the hand written grades of our numismatic staff. Please note, these grades were done for our benefit and should not be relied on for your bidding purposes. You should rely on your own grading standards to determine the quality and grade of coins that are of interest to you!
Sale Highlights
In an effort to provide you with a better understanding of the coins we will be selling, we have compiled a listing of the highlights, including all the graded and slabbed coins. Note, there are over 8000 coins. As a result, the following list of highlights just begins to scratch the surface as to the amount of coins we will be selling. Be sure to view the complete inventory and catalog in sale order! The links are farther up the page.
