Family-owned Business Wins Three International Awards

UPSALA, MN—Schultz Auctioneers, a family-run auction firm, was recognized on July 15 as one of the international leaders in auction advertising. Competing against industry peers as far away as South Africa, the firm was awarded three top honors in the National Auctioneers Association’s (NAA) annual marketing competition, sponsored by USA Today.

These are not the first national awards for Schultz, a firm which has won 27 Minnesota and six international marketing plaques since 2000. “The exhilaration never gets old,” commented Mike Schultz, president of the Upsala firm. “It’s reassuring to know that our best matches the best of massive national firms; it gives us confidence in the chances we take to put our clients’ assets out there in bold ways.”

“It’s starting to pay off in more than just increased sales,” Schultz noted, crediting several of their professional partnerships with helping this family business compete with local and larger firms. “We work with an ad agency in Virginia, a print-and-mail shop in Indiana, and web sites based in both the States and Canada,” added John Schultz, vice president for operations. “The Web has opened up to us resources that give us competitive advantage—not just over our local competitors but also on national stages like this contest.”

Judges from USA Today, including the vice president of advertising, were on hand in Greensboro, NC, at the 2010 NAA International Conference & Show to congratulate representatives of Schultz Auctioneers for their superlative work.
